Character Name: Matthieu Laroche Character Species: Fiend-blood Gender: Male Age: Over a hundred, doesn't have an exact year. Looks early to mid thirties. Powers: Has a good understanding of necromancy due to family tradition and ties to the practice. Also is a medium of sorts; can contact the dead and sometimes dismiss them if the presence is a harmful one. Hails From: France Brief Character History/Description: The infamous Laroche family have long been living in the small village of Guethary, established there for generations. Necromancers and wielders of demonology, they were adept at these dark trades and soon gained a reputation for their often ground-breaking work. As time passed, the members of the family began to dabble in working more "closely" with some of the different creatures that they summoned. Very soon evidence of this began to show up as the members of the family became more and more corrupted. Each generation of children looked less like the normal humans they had been and more like the fiends that they called upon. Just recently the current patriarch of the family, Theophilus, has passed away. His immense estate was split among the family, each member receiving a tidy sum. Several received even more. One of these would be Matthieu, a slightly estranged man who had made his fortune not from family ties but from his own daring, and profitable, ventures in business. Vastly rich, he preferred to stay out of the public eye and leave the real sum of his profits a mystery. If he ever appeared in the papers, it was not in the gossip columns, but in the business section. Theophilus saw the potential in his shrewd descendant and chose to leave his inheritances to Matthieu, who would surely know the best way to handle them, given his calm and calculating manner, as well as his incredible sense for business. He also left gave him his manor, which lay just on the outskirts of Guethary, surrounded by a high brick wall. Despite Matthieu not being one for show, he accepted the house and moved in, deciding to make the best use of it that he could. He closed the West and East Wings - the West because he was going to use it for storage, the East for unknown reasons. The staff on hand is usually very minor, just what is needed to keep the house in working order and his own trusted manager Arnaud. On occasion, when special circumstances arise, he will temporarily hire more. All of his employees live in the manor, in their own, well-furnished rooms just in the back.

Oh geez. Me and my character refs. This one was made part of a set with a friend. I originally wasn't going to upload him anywhere to any club, but I changed my mind after getting an idea...
This guy's rocking quite the 80's hairdo! Not sure how I feel about the Jareth the Goblin King look, but I do like the design on his horns. I'm very glad to see you returning to doing sketchwork. Though... I can't help but feel that the unshaded clothes and face look a bit flat compared to that super detailed hair. A bit of lighting work could really make this come to life. I know it's a character reference and those can often be flat-colored but you've already put so much work into it, and there's a bit of a dissonance for me between the use of the super-ornamental 'finishing' photoshop brushes and the more 'work in progress' flat-color style. Just a thought!
